Yesterday, after many weeks of hard work, we were finally able to take to the stage and show everyone just what we had been up to. Each and every single presentation was written, filmed, acted and produced by the students themselves. They even made their won masks to go along with their stories. It was lovely to see so many people there supporting them and we really hope you enjoyed watching them as much as they enjoyed making their presentations.

I’m Away But You Still Can Play!

Hello Guys!

Unfortunately I am not at school today and instead I am at home looking after my very sick little boy. However, just because I am not there does not mean that you cannot still have a fantastic day with lots of work completed. I have made a list for you to go through. Hopefully your lovely casual for the day is reading this and gets you to complete these tasks! That way, you’re learning adventure has not stopped at all.

Create your model

I have taken your online suggestions and created a list of models to create. I have even taken images and put you into groups so as to make the task a little bit more fun. You will need to sort through all our recycled goodies and try and create your model. It is to be no bigger than HALF a sheet of A4 paper. This means you will have to be very careful with your hands! Try and make them look as real as possible.

Your groups and buildings/places are as follows:

Brownie bar – Lachlan, Angelina and Tom – You can use the one I have already started.

Koala Park Sanctuary – Milan, Dylan and Finlay (Check Picture)

Using oil pastels, complete the rest of your fish images. You can find these at the front of the room.

Practice Your Performance

I have uploaded all your sounds to the blog. Simply click on them and start perfecting your timing. Don’t stress about it being too perfect….it’s supposed to be fun!

Complete you masks and have them ready to go for your big performance. I have seen what you did this afternoon and am completely blown away. WOW!!

N.I.D.A. Auditions

With their début performance nearing, many of our budding actors and actresses have been out and about making final preparations. Knowing it is all about timing and delivery, many of them have been sweating over the selected sound effects, desperately wanting to ensure that they are just right. Although the mood seems quite positive and calm, I have received a request for a brand new toilet seat, blue m n m’s, Arctic water and white roses to be sprinkled on the dressing room floor. It all seems to be in the same handwriting as well….Angelina?

Alien Code Breakers

Last week, 1/2E were set the task of breaking a range of alien codes around the school. Each code broken would provide them with an clue on how to construct the perfect intergalactic rocket. The treasure hunt involved teams scouring the school in order to discover the hidden codes and use their special ‘code cracking machine’ to decipher the hidden message.

Whilst they all managed to retrieve the codes, their rocket building skills left a lot to be desired!

We all had incredible amounts of fun and are very grateful for Mr Carrs wonderful lesson ideas.

PS – Finlay, when people are told to lie down, how do you do it?

The Performance Date Approaches

Hello there and welcome to week 4. I apologise for not being here on Friday but I was the lucky recipitent of a stomach bug! Lucky me!

At first I thought I got it off my son, but after eating that hot dog you guys made for me on Thursday, and seeing the following video afterwards, I think I might know the REAL reason!

Homework will go out today with a new spelling sheet for those students who feel like doing some extension work. This sheet will allow you to practise your sounds for the week and hopefully get a fantastic score come spelling test time.

To those of you who created brilliant sketches of your home, I say thank you! Your amazing efforts have not gone unrewarded. Although we didn’t get the opportunity to present to hte whole class (only our groups), I thought it was only just that the entire world got to see your wonderful talents! Well done!

Our performance day is fast approaching with only a few rehearsals left before the big show. For a sneak peek of how it is all going, have a look at the videos below. These videos were created entirely by the children from stories entirely scripted by the children. Absolutely amazing 21st Century learners!

Finally, Nicky has something very interesting to talk about. You may have to ask him to explain these magical images.

Tom has been working hard at home concocting a wonderful, engaging and clever story. This fantastic learner has managed to use a variety of weird and interesting illustrations and turn them into a well-sequenced, entertaining story. A fantastic effort, Tom. Well done!

Well, well, well. Look who thinks they’re tough! It appears the ‘laughing stock’, also known as 1S, have challenged our fleet to a battle at sea. The proud and honourable Royal Majesty Highness Great Extra Awesome Brilliant Sublime Shiny Navy (R.M.H.G.E.A.B.S.S. Navy) has forever been the most feared and powerful navy in the world. These young upstarts from down river need to be taught a lesson. And they will.

Junior Masterchef – Close enough is good enough!

We hope all our hardworking mothers had a wonderful weekend and a deserved day off on Sunday. We also hope that you have not spent the night in emergency after eating the prepared short bread. This video was supposed to be posted on Friday but, due to a high court injunction from the students themselves, was withheld until today. This was supposed to ensure that they would indeed be eaten and not just politely waved aside – as those who witnessed such atrocities would of done.

To the mothers out there who ate them – I say well done! You clearly must love your child!

To all the mothers out there who waived them away – I say well done! You clearly must value your health and well-being.

To all the fathers out there – prepare yourselves. With Father’s Day just around the corner you may wish to get your tetanus shot in advance.
